New Video: The Power Within

Today we’re releasing our new video, a story we’re excited to share and the kind we would like to see more of, both on camera and in the real world. We’re really passionate about the products we make (like truly, madly, deeply kind of passionate) but products only get us so far. It’s the bigger picture stuff, the ideas behind the products, the stories we tell ourselves in our day to day that really make a difference. Products don’t empower you. We believe you already have the power right there within, but that access to having informed choices, sharing big...

Blood cups and tea parties anyone? Should you talk with your child about periods and sex?

“Mama I got your blood cup!!”My six year old knows I just got my period and is holding up my yellow pouch with my trusty Lunette menstrual cup inside. She calls it a "blood cup." I am the type of mom that is very open about all things relating to the body. I pee in front of her, and I even dump my menstrual cup blood in front of her (I don’t know do other parents get privacy in the bathroom? I don’t.) When she says “ewww” I say, yeah, but remember, it’s natural, and that’s how come I was...

As with any period care product the most important thing is to keep it clean, don’t leave it in too long and use a trusted brand. The truth behind the science: Every so often a clickbait article headline graces our newsfeeds which admittedly can be difficult to ignore. Recently a French study has been quoted on menstrual cups having increased risk of TSS. A big claim right? Menstrual cups have been a trusted period care product for decades. Period Ads Are Out – Real Menstruating Humans Are In!
Tired of seeing those period commercials that show us how absorbent their tampons or pads are from a blue liquid representing our period blood? (they’re SO OFF if they think our vaginas are producing that color). Okay okay, in all seriousness, I don’t think I’ve ever been able to relate to a single one of those period commercials, have you? If I’m wearing a pad and doing yoga at the same time, there’s absolutely no way I’m going to feel fresh and comfortable, and I’m definitely not all smiles during my period week! If tampon and pad commercials were honest, we’d be seeing what it’s really like to have a period. Come on advertising and marketing gurus, there’s GOT to be a better way to portray how real menstruating humans actually feel!

I went to a music festival on my period, and I survived!

This past April I attended Weekend 1 of Coachella Music and Arts Festival, and yes, it was all I could ever imagine. Except there was a teeny thing I brought with me that I probably wouldn’t have if I had a choice…my period. Yep. I was bleeding during this fun-filled weekend where the sun has no mercy on you, dressing “casual” is frowned upon, the smell of the porta potties make you gag (and are infested with flies), and 100,000 people are exchanging sweat and tears. But hey, the music was great and the oversized art installations were totes Instagram...
