The vulva, often mistaken for the word “vagina,” is one of the most diverse areas of the female anatomy. Yet, in health or biology class, we tend to only retain that vaginas are called vaginas, and the rest remains a mystery. While we won’t condemn someone for referring to vulva’s as vaginas, it’s important to know the difference between a vagina and a vulva, and what all the other functions down there are called. Why?
