In June of 2014, Project Consent began as a simple statement to open up discussion of a consent-based culture, as opposed to a culture where rape victims are stigmatized and sexual assault is swept under the rug. Lunette is helping to foster this discussion by donating profits so that Project Consent can continue their mission. They will be working together to create Instagram stories on college campuses, asking students questions about consent. These stories will be posted on Lunette’s Instagram from March 16 to March 21.
Lunette and Project Consent share values of awareness, education, and promotion. Project Consent creates content with the aim of helping educate others about rape culture and sexual assault. From articles to viral videos, the goal is to start conversations about consent in an accessible manner. Project Consent publishes three articles a week, with topics ranging from analysis of prominent court cases to the problems with catcalling. Content is created with the intention of being for everyone: you don’t need to be a scholar to understand the mission, nor do you need any qualifications to know why consent is so important.
